It's all in a day's work and then some for Amilia Burton, an administrative assistant who has been named the Manatee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) Employee of the Month for August 2025. Burton's exemplary efforts over the last two years have not gone unnoticed, particularly her work on the MCSO Fingerprint Unit’s transition to the JusticeTrax Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
A complex project that entailed starting from scratch on many processes, Burton's role was vital in developing, optimizing, and refining the new fingerprint management system. A significant, and clearly labor-intensive component of her work involved dual entry of fingerprint evidence into both the old system and the new one, a process that reportedly took nearly a year. In a statement obtained by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Burton's involvement was crucial in the successful launch of the new management system which is expected to enhance the fingerprinting process considerably.
The modernized system is not just a mere update; it is a complete overhaul designed to streamline evidence management and report generation for the MCSO and its partner agencies. The patience and perseverance of Amilia Burton in achieving this feat, which was likely fraught with technical challenges and bureaucratic hurdles, speaks to a level of dedication that seems seldom recognized in the administrative sphere.
According to the MCSO, "Amilia has worked diligently to develop the program, establish reporting capabilities, and provide user training." This accolade is an acknowledgment of a job well beyond well done, especially considering the coordination with the vendor, the integration with MCSO's IT staff and the other unsung tunings required to transition to the upgraded system.
