Annapolis police successfully tracked down a carjacked vehicle along with five suspects linked to the theft, according to an official press release from the department. The car, a 2014 Dodge Avenger, was found on Jennifer Road yesterday, featuring a BB gun and keys left in the ignition.
The investigation quickly escalated when police, assisted by K-9 units, identified potential suspects from security camera footage in the area. At that point, two officers pinpointed several individuals matching the suspect descriptions. Despite the presiding chaos of the midday hustle, where such incidents often blur into the background noise of Annapolis' day-to-day, the officers detained all five suspects for questioning, unwavering in their pursuit of justice.
Three minors, whose names have not been disclosed, were cited in the incident—a 16-year-old male, a 17-year-old male, and a 16-year-old female. Two adults, Davine Darrin Copper, a 55-year-old from Denton, Maryland, and Daniel James Dyott, a 33-year-old also from Denton, were arrested in connection with the carjacking, according to an Anne Arundel County press release.
