Water scarcity issues were next on the governor's agenda. The San Simon Domestic Water Improvement District, once troubled with frequent water outages, has now received a considerable financial boost from the state. A $1.5 million grant, awarded by Hobbs' administration, is aiding in the drilling of a new well. In a statement obtained by the Governor's Office, it's expected to become operational by October, signaling a tangible move towards resolving rural water shortages.
Education and mental health were addressed during Hobbs's visit to Pueblo High School, where she took the stage to ceremonially sign HB2484, a bill prohibiting cell phones and wireless devices in classrooms.
