Arlington's Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has rolled out a new initiative aimed at bolstering small businesses throughout the city. The move, outlined in a recent announcement, introduces a series of industry-specific business cohorts aimed to connect local entrepreneurs with experts who can provide them with the necessary insights to grow their operations. Planned sectors for this program include Professional Services, Construction & Trades, and Food & Beverage, as per the City of Arlington.

The Arlington EDC's free program is structured to address various stages of business development, focusing on scaling, sustainability, and strategic refinement. Participating businesses in Professional Services, the first of the scheduled cohorts, are set to gain insights into market understanding, compliance, marketing strategies, client acquisition, and more. Kay Brown-Patrick, the assistant executive director of the Arlington EDC, said, per the City of Arlington, "At the Arlington EDC, we are committed to empowering small businesses with the tools, knowledge and connections they need to thrive." She believes this program will position Arlington businesses to be some of the best-equipped in the region for success through the plethora of expert guidance and networking opportunities offered.

Applications for the first cohort, targeting the professional services industry, are open until August 25. Arlington EDC has provided detailed information on how to apply for this opportunity on their website. The upcoming cohorts for Construction & Trades in October 2025 and Food & Beverage in March 2026 are expected to cover industry-specific challenges, helping small businesses tailor their growth strategies accordingly.
