Good news for Arlington's nonprofit scene: the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation is rolling out its innovative Impact Learning Series again this fall due to high demand. The Foundation Board confirmed that they will underwrite all costs to offer a slate of free workshops and trainings designed to bolster local nonprofits in various capacities. Participants from nonprofit boards, staff, and volunteers can look forward to sessions that aim to enhance governance, marketing, fundraising, and more, as per the City of Arlington.
Starting on September 12 with "Brew, Bagels & Benefit: Year-End Close for Nonprofits," professionals can join a class focused on streamlining the year-end financial process, addressing common issues like pledges and in-kind donations. The class will be held at the Arlington Human Services Building, and registration is open to anyone interested in improving their nonprofit financial wrap-up.
On September 27, ACTIV will host "From Good to Great: Elevating Nonprofit Board Governance," a workshop tailored to enhance nonprofit board members' understanding of their roles and the importance of governance for organizational success. The training will involve interactive exercises and is designed to generate tangible action plans for improved board effectiveness.
Those looking to expand their grant funding knowledge can attend "Muffins & Momentum: Show Me the Money! Grant Funding Sources Uncovered," scheduled for October 9. At this session, an expert from the City of Arlington's Grants Management Department will give a tour through various grant sources, including websites and databases, and even provide pointers on identifying the right opportunities for each organization.
Moving into storytelling, the "Grub & Grow: Happily Ever After: Telling Your Unique Story as a Nonprofit" workshop on October 24 offers strategies and tools for nonprofits to craft compelling narratives and is designed to help organizations effectively communicate their mission and impact utilizing proven marketing tactics.
Closing out the series on November 18, "Chat & Chew: Fundraising for Sustainable Growth" will help participants explore the facets of sustainable fundraising and how to align these with their growth objectives. Attendees will come away with practical tools and a clearer vision for setting realistic fundraising goals that can evolve alongside their organization.
