Cheltenham Township Police are actively investigating an armored truck heist that occurred yesterday morning outside the H Mart on Cheltenham Avenue, close to the Philadelphia border. Two armed individuals are reported to have stolen a sum ranging between $700,000 and $800,000. According to NBC Philadelphia, surveillance footage captured both suspects, dressed in hoodies, committing the robbery.

The act unfolded at approximately 10:30 a.m., with one suspect brandishing what appeared to be an AK-style rifle and the other armed with a handgun. "They ordered her to turn over her weapon and then took between $700,000 and $800,000," Lieutenant Andrew Snyder of the Cheltenham Police Department described the ordeal. The driver of the armored vehicle was forced to surrender her weapon during the confrontation, but thankfully no injuries have been reported. The suspects fled the scene in a black Acura TLX, which was later found abandoned in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park, as mentioned in a 6ABC Action News report.

The robbery is notably severe given the considerable amount of cash taken and has prompted concerns about a string of similar incidents in the area. Lieutenant Snyder further indicated the possibility of this incident being connected to other armored car heists, as he explained in a conversation with FOX 29. "It’s definitely dangerous for everybody and we’re investigating the possibility this may be linked to other armored car robberies in the area, as well as some that were in Philadelphia," said Snyder.

Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are conducting a thorough analysis of the surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the perpetrators. Meanwhile, police are urging anyone with information related to the incident or those who may have witnessed suspicious activity to come forward.
