The City of Atlanta has announced the launch of a new initiative called ATL.Direct, a digital platform designed to give citizens direct access to news, stories, and developments that are shaping the city. According to an official release, this pioneering newsroom is intended to serve as a central hub for various updates from the city departments, ensuring that the community stays informed about the public service work and the ongoing projects within Atlanta.

Mayor Andre Dickens expressed enthusiasm for the new platform stating, “ATL.Direct is about delivering information in a way that is accessible and innovative.” He further emphasized Atlanta's commitment to technological advancements, asserting that the platform is a reflection of the city's efforts to foster stronger connections between the government and its community. However, the content on the site is not limited to technology alone; it encompasses a wide range of topics from infrastructure to social initiatives, as noted by the City of Atlanta's release.

Among the features of ATL.Direct is a space named 'Pathway for Home', which focuses on stories and resources for Atlantans who are experiencing homelessness. It serves as a testament to the city's dedication to helping such residents find stable housing. Moreover, with the upcoming FIFA World Cup™ in 2026, the site includes 'Road to FIFA', a comprehensive look at how the city is preparing and investing in the global event while highlighting its impact on the local population. 'Progress in Action' is another critical aspect of ATL.Direct, providing regular updates on infrastructure improvements and other important initiatives under Mayor Andre Dickens' 'Moving Atlanta Forward' agenda, enabling citizens to monitor these activities in real time.

Allison Fouché, the city's Chief Communications Officer, explained the importance of ATL.Direct as a counterbalance to the often negative slant of media coverage. “Too often, when something goes wrong, you hear about it in the news, but the stories of everyday progress and the dedicated people behind them are not always visible. Now, more than ever with funding for public access information being cut daily it’s imperative that we bridge that gap so that fact-based truthful information continues to reach our constituents,” Fouché said, as stated on the city's website.
