The Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) has announced an urgent resurfacing schedule for Cascade Road, aiming to hasten its reopening to the community and local businesses affected by its closure. The administrative body disclosed that overnight construction work will start today and continue until Saturday, working non-stop to complete the project as swiftly as possible.
ATLDOT Commissioner, Solomon Caviness provided an insight during a media briefing, with operations set to take place along the stretch between Willis Mill Road SW and Kingsdale Drive SW. The schedule includes milling, repaving, and the application of temporary striping – steps crucial for the eventual removal of detours, and reinstating full access to businesses along the Cascade corridor, as reported by ATLDOT's official website.
This construction sprint is part of the Cascade Road Complete Street Project Phase I, which has seen various developmental phases aimed to enhance the urban landscape and serviceability of Atlantan thoroughfares. The final phase of this project kicks off with the resurfacing initiative, which is set to culminate at the end of August, signalling a significant boon for mobility and commerce in the area.
"To expedite the reopening of Cascade Road and the completion of this project, ATLDOT will implement an around-the-clock construction schedule from August 11 through August 16, focusing on Cascade Road between Willis Mill Road SW and Kingsdale DriveSW," said Caviness, emphasizing the urgency and commitment of ATLDOT to minimize impacts on the neighborhood and its businesses.
