Early this morning, an attempted burglary shook the quiet of West Seattle when a stolen vehicle was used in an effort to forcefully enter a local smoke shop. According to the Seattle Police Blotter, suspects rammed a black Kia into the store's entrance. Despite the dramatic impact at the 4700 block of California Avenue Southwest, police noted that the burglars failed to completely break through and no merchandise was taken.
Responding to the 4:29 a.m. alarm call, officers discovered the Kia, reported stolen from Seattle, lodged in the storefront. The vehicle had apparently been used to crash through the front entrance, causing significant damage. One witness could only describe seeing the driver commit the act and was unable to provide details on the escape route or subsequent transportation, as per the same police report.
Seattle Police are actively pursuing leads with their Major Crimes and Robbery units at the helm. The vehicle in question was not only stolen but also had a caution alert for a related armed robbery – a detail that has presumably escalated the urgency of the investigation.
