In the ongoing legal dispute between Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and former congressman Beto O’Rourke, now a political activist, Paxton secured a third court ruling in his favor against O’Rourke and his group, Powered by People. The most recent decision focused on jurisdiction, with the court ruling that Tarrant County will preside over Paxton's effort to dissolve the organization.

Detailing the recent court decision, in a case linking back to a dispute over jurisdiction between two Texas courts, the Attorney General’s office announced that Paxton had effectively challenged a previous El Paso court ruling that attempted to sway jurisdiction from a Tarrant County district court. According to a press release from the Attorney General's office, the ruling allows legal proceedings to move forward in an appropriate venue regarding the potential revocation of Powered by People’s charter.

In the same release, the Attorney General's office issued a strong statement regarding the case. “Beto’s attempt to wield his money-funneling organization as a weapon to derail the functioning of the Texas Legislature failed miserably, and we will prove that he broke the law along the way,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Even though the rogue Democrats he funded have come crawling back to Texas in defeat, we will not relent in asking the court to shut down Beto’s radical group for its unlawful conduct.”

Among the earlier legal actions by Attorney General Paxton was a temporary restraining order (TRO) against Beto O’Rourke, intended to halt what Paxton characterizes as an unlawful fundraising effort. After the initial TRO, a more restrictive order was obtained, imposing additional limitations on O’Rourke.
