Early Monday morning, a house fire in Auburn's wooded neighborhood prompted an emergency response and evacuation, as reported by CBS News Sacramento. The Auburn authorities responded to an initial report of a yard fire on Aeolia Drive and Olive Orchard around 5 a.m but found a home completely engulfed in flames upon their arrival. Nearby homes were evacuated as firefighters tackled the blaze, and two individuals from the affected house were hospitalized with minor injuries.
The Auburn Police Department announced fire crews managed to knock down the fire; however, power lines were brought down due to the incident, complicating efforts to restore normalcy, this news was detailed by FOX40. As first responders dealt with the fire and electrical hazards they requested that residents avoid the area and follow specific detour routes residents of Olive Orchard were directed to exit through Stratten Way while Aeolia Drive households were informed that the area around Olive Orchard and Foresthill was closed.
Officers have encouraged those leaving the Foresthill neighborhood to use Oak Street, the primary route, to minimize congestion and allow emergency teams to address the situation as efficiently as possible. It remains undisclosed if there have been any additional injuries beyond the two minor ones already reported.
The Auburn Police Department has urged the public to "stay clear of the scene for everyone's safety," while crews work towards cleaning up and restoring power in the area. The cause of the initial fire is under investigation, but what is clear is that the community’s quick response and evacuation efforts likely averted further harm or disaster.
