The Austin Police Department (APD) is reaching out to the community, requesting help to identify the person behind the wheel of a white minivan involved in a recent collision; this incident is intertwined with the violent tapestry of a triple homicide that besieged the city last Monday, as detailed by APD officials.
The collision, captured by a private dash camera, illustrates the chaotic aftermath of the senseless violence— a Honda sedan being abruptly impacted and spun out on the flyover from Research Boulevard NB to Mopac Expressway, according to video evidence the APD has obtained and following this, a stolen Toyota 4-Runner, commandeered by a man named Ethan Nieneker collided with another vehicle, believed to be the sought-after white Dodge Caravan or something akin to it, the event unfolded around 2:18 p.m., a time stamp on a day marred by loss and lawlessness.
APD's request is straightforward: speak with the aforementioned minivan’s driver to discover any potential injuries and to unravel more threads of information surrounding the crash, as "additional charges may be pursued for the suspect as a result of the collision," the APD stated.
In their quest to lift the shroud of anonymity from the minivan’s driver, the APD is releasing the dash camera footage which, by exposing the vehicle’s features, they hope will bring forth someone who recognizes the minivan or has any pertinent information and as the Austin community reels from the brutality that unfolded, the call for collective vigilance echoes, with the APD urging those who harbor any details to contact them at 512-974-TIPS or to offer information through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program—anonymity promised, justice the goal.
