In a somber turn of events in Dunedin, authorities are piecing together the details of an apparent murder-suicide that left two people dead. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office confirmed that deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence and made a disturbing discovery.

According to the official report from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, at around 8:07 p.m. yesterday, deputies arrived at 1561 Mac Charles Court after family members received suicidal text messages from Charles Reid Jr., aged 54. Upon their arrival, efforts to reach Reid were met with silence. An unsecured door led deputies to enter the home, where they discovered a chilling scene.

Inside the house, Sarah Bulat, 42 years old and identified as Reid's girlfriend, was found deceased with a gunshot wound to her head. While conducting a thorough search of the premises, deputies were startled by a single gunshot emanating from a bathroom. There, they found Reid with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives believe that Reid murdered Bulat before taking his own life, as indicated by several suicide notes found within the home.

As the neighborhood grapples with this tragedy, the investigation continues under the guidance of detectives from the Robbery & Homicide Unit.
