The City of Avondale is gearing up for a series of seal coat projects that are set to improve the streets across several communities. Announced by Avondale's Public Works Department in collaboration with Weems Asphalt and ViaSun, the initiative is a move to maintain roadway infrastructure as part of its Pavement Preservation Program for the fiscal year 2026.
According to the city's announcement, the work kicked off on Monday and spanned until November 6, 2025. Residents can expect lane restrictions and some temporary road closures, but the city promises signage and advance notice to ease the pain. Moreover, regular and bulk trash pickup schedules will stay the same, but collections may come around earlier in the day, residents should make a note to get their bins out by 5:00 a.m. on pickup days.
Neighborhoods affected by the upcoming projects cover a significant swathe of Avondale, including the Alta Mira and Casitas subdivisions at Rancho Santa Fe, Dysart Ranch, and several parcels in Garden Lakes. The Crystal Gardens, Pecan Groves, and various other communities are also on the to-do list, not to mention a span of vital roadways. Places like MC85 from Litchfield Road to Central Avenue and Coldwater Springs Boulevard from Avondale Boulevard to the western city limit will see crews milling about, laying down that fresh seal coat.
While local officials have mapped out a clear plan, they also note that the schedule is susceptible to shifts. Factors like weather conditions, mechanical breakdowns, or delays in materials can push timelines. The city has emphasized that, above all else, public safety is its top concern during this period. If residents have questions or are looking for more details, they're advised to reach out to the Avondale Public Works Department directly at (623) 333-4487.
