As Mayor Brandon M. Scott rolls out the Downtown RISE Master Plan for public consideration, Baltimoreans are now invited to envision the future of their city's core. The strategic plan aims to revitalize Downtown Baltimore through a communal effort, seeking to transform it into a lively, pedestrian-friendly hub. This initiative, announced by the City of Baltimore Mayor's Office, marks the third phase of the Downtown RISE initiative launched two years prior and builds upon ongoing efforts to enhance public areas, stimulate business growth, and attract new investments.
"We're committed to building a Baltimore where everybody can thrive. That means investing in Downtown: the heart of our city, where so many residents gather, dine, work, and play," Mayor Scott stated. The collaboration involves the Governor Wes Moore's Administration, the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, and a broad array of local interests. As steps toward formal adoption of a city-guided master plan progress, residents have various opportunities to weigh in on the blueprint crafted for the foreseeable future of their urban landscape.
Feedback from citizens is not only welcomed but encouraged through several interactive platforms and sessions. For instance, tomorrow from 5 to 7:30 PM, a community engagement event will be hosted by the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, with required pre-registration through Eventbrite. Additionally, presentations about the plan will be conducted before the Baltimore City Planning Commission, first as an informational session on August 28, then followed by a critical adoption vote that includes public testimony, set for October 9.
The draft of the Master Plan is readily accessible online for all residents to review, the Mayor's office announced.
