Barrow County residents and business owners looking to handle permits and licenses will soon encounter a digital era of convenience as the county's Planning and Community Development implements a new software system. Starting next week, the traditional process for applying for permits, business licenses, and development reviews will shift to an online portal designed to streamline administrative tasks and enhance user experience.
While the transition is underway, the county promises not to leave the public in the lurch, existing permit-related inspections will continue to be scheduled, and the office will remain open to visitors who prefer to submit their paper applications, despite such submissions not being processed until the system upgrade is completed, so hold tight if you're looking to get things done the old-fashioned pen-to-paper way, it might just take a little longer than before.
In a commitment to keeping the community informed and comfortable with the change, Rebecca Whiddon, Barrow County Planning and Community Development Director, urged the public for understanding, saying, "We appreciate the public’s patience as we transition to a new, more efficient software solution, which will only enhance our ability to process permits and licenses in the future," according to a Barrow County news release.
For those who might feel daunted by digital system changes, worry not, for the county is preparing online tutorials to coincide with the software's going live, indicating that everyone from first-time applicants to seasoned contractors can navigate the new system with ease; these educational guides are set to be available by next Tuesday, ensuring an opportunity to learn the ropes is within reach for all.
