The Bay Area's anticipation for Irish hip-hop sensation Kneecap's upcoming shows stopped as the group announced the cancellation of their entire U.S. tour, which included sold-out performances at San Francisco's Independent on October 27 and Oakland's Fox Theater on October 28. Kneecap, known for their provocative lyrics and forthright Irish republican stance, are now facing a legal battle over a terrorism charge in the U.K., forcing them to drop their U.S. dates, as SFGate reported.

In a social media announcement, Kneecap described the cancellation as "bad news" for their U.S. fans due to the "witch-hunt" by the British government, which clashes with their next court hearing in London, however the band promised to return with a larger tour after clearing their legal hurdles saying "once we win our court case, which we will, we promise to embark on an even bigger tour to all you great heads," and for now refunds are available at point of purchase, as per their Instagram post.

The contentious charge stems from an incident where Kneecap member Liam O'Hanna, also known as Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh and Mo Chara, allegedly displayed a Hezbollah flag during a performance in London, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan police under a U.K. anti-terrorism law. Hezbollah is recognized as a terrorist organization by multiple countries, as detailed in NBC News.

Despite the setback, Kneecap hinted at some form of compensation for their fans, teasing a special surprise set to be unveiled next week claiming, "We will be sharing something very special for US fans next week so that we can still link in with you all in October," adding, "It's top secret for now but all will be revealed next week — stay tuned," the group insisted on increasing tension for what's in store. Canadian fans will still have the chance to see the group perform at sold-out events in Vancouver and Toronto, which remain unaffected by the legal predicament, Kneecap confirmed in the same NBC News.
