
A tragic event unfolded near Lost Gulch Overlook as a man's body was discovered following his call to authorities, indicating a possible suicide. In the late hours of Tuesday, the Boulder County Communications Center received a distressing call around 8:45 p.m. from a man who stated he was armed and contemplating taking his own life, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Efforts to locate the individual immediately commenced, with first responders tirelessly working to exhaustively search the area. They utilized vehicles, on-foot patrols, and even a thermal drone to try and find the individual or the initial vehicle description they had. Despite these efforts, the search initially proved fruitless, concluding around 1:00 a.m. without locating the man or his vehicle. It wasn't until it was discovered he had borrowed a vehicle from someone else that the search parameters could expand, eventually leading to the discovery of the updated vehicle at Lost Gulch Overlook parking lot around 3:30 a.m.
At approximately 6:00 a.m., a continued search near the parking lot at 4400 Flagstaff Road resulted in the grim finding of the deceased male off a nearby trail. The identification of the man, along with details surrounding the cause and manner of his death, is yet to be released, pending investigation by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.
