Tragedy struck on a usual stretch of New Hampshire Avenue this past weekend when a fatal collision claimed the life of a local motorcyclist. The Montgomery County Department of Police has been sifting through the debris of this accident, trying to piece together what culminated in a fatal encounter between a motorcyclist and a car driver. The victim, now identified as Patrick Adam Smith, hailing from Bowie, was only 30 years old.
According to an announcement by the Montgomery County Police, at around 6:17 p.m. last Saturday, officers alongside Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel raced to the 22000 block of New Hampshire Avenue, responding to dire reports of the crash. There, they discovered the aftermath of what appeared to be a loss of control and subsequent collision between Smith's black 2006 Triumph Rocket III motorcycle and a silver 2013 BMW 128i.
The circumstances surrounding the incident aren't wholly clear, as detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit press forward with their inquiries. What is known is the heartrending conclusion of Smith's journey - despite the frantic efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the BMW, on the other hand, reported no injuries and did not need transportation to a hospital for medical evaluation.
