Seattle police are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery at a West Seattle jewelry store on Thursday, with losses estimated at $2 million. The incident occurred around noon in the 4500 block of California Avenue Southwest, according to the Seattle Police Department Blotter.
Police said four masked suspects used hammers to break into the store. One suspect reportedly used bear spray and a taser to keep employees from intervening. High-value items were taken, including Rolex watches valued at $700,000 to $800,000, an emerald necklace worth $125,000, and a platinum diamond piece. Gold jewelry was also stolen.
The robbery lasted about 90 seconds, and the suspects fled before officers arrived. The Seattle Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact the Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. Multiple units, including the Robbery Unit and Crime Scene Investigations, are handling the case.
