A Bronx shooting that injured four men following gang-related violence has resulted in a seven-year prison sentence for 20-year-old Isaac Garcia. The sentence was issued by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Seth Steed, three years after the incident took place outside Pelham Preparatory Academy, according to a press release from the Bronx District Attorney's office.

Garcia, associated with the "1300" gang, ignited the violence on September 9, 2022, responding to a street fight by acquiring and discharging a 9-mm pistol into a crowd, striking the men as unintended victims. Captured by video surveillance, he is said to have fired 13 rounds, wounding the men with bullets intended for others, as reported by the DA's office.

In May of this year, Garcia entered a guilty plea for Attempted Murder in the second degree. The prosecution had proposed a longer sentencing of nine years followed by five years post-release supervision. The actual sentence issued is for seven years plus the recommended post-release supervision. "He missed his intended targets, and four men were wounded by bullets. They will carry the emotional trauma of their injuries for the rest of their lives. It is a miracle that no one was killed," Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark was quoted in a press release.

The prosecution team, headed by Assistant District Attorney Stephen J. Russo of the Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau, emphasized the seriousness of the defendant’s reckless behavior. The investigation involved NYPD detectives and staff from the Bronx District Attorney’s office who conducted a comprehensive review of the case. Detective Kyle Keiser of the 49th Precinct and NYPD Officer Christopher Multari from the Evidence Collection Team were among the law enforcement personnel acknowledged for their contributions, according to the DA’s statement.
