A Brooksville man is facing multiple drug charges following a traffic stop that turned into a significant narcotics bust. Robert Wright, who resides in Brooksville, was arrested after a traffic stop by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit on Monday.
Details provided by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office indicate that Wright, born on October 24, 1979, was a front-seat passenger in a 2002 Hyundai Elantra that committed multiple traffic violations – including driving with a brake light out, and failing to stop at a designated sign. Wright consented to a search where detectives found Alprazolam pills, broken into pieces suggestive of intended distribution, a baggie, and a scale with traces of cocaine that later tested positive.
Further investigation at Hernando County Jail revealed Wright was concealing a baggie which contained approximately 56 grams of fentanyl, 1.5 grams of cocaine, and additional Alprazolam pills. The field test confirmed the presence of these illicit substances, as the arresting officers removed them from his possession.
The charges against Wright are severe and include trafficking in fentanyl, possession of cocaine, possession of Alprazolam, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Following the arrest, Wright was taken into custody at the Hernando County Detention Center.
