Last night's events in Buckeye escalated into violence when a suspect, ignoring an order of protection, reportedly threatened his ex-girlfriend with a gun and later faced dire consequences. The sequence of dangerous confrontations began on Shooting Star Ln and concluded with a vehicle collision near Maricopa Rd and Sunset Point Blvd, leaving the suspect critically injured and hospitalized.
According to an official release by the Buckeye police, reports of gunfire on Monday just before 8:30 p.m. led to the discovery of the suspect, a man in his 50s. After crashing his truck, he was found injured with a gun nearby. Despite the efforts of both police and medical crews on the scene, the man's injuries were severe, and he was transported to a local hospital with conditions that appear life-threatening, as per City of Buckeye website.
The investigation into the incident revealed that the man violated an active order of protection by showing up at his ex-girlfriend's house and subsequently threatening her. A teen male, part of the household, stated that after confronting the suspect and telling him to leave, shots were fired by the suspect. The teen, responding in a moment of critical decision, used his vehicle to run over the suspect after he alleges the man pointed a gun at him once more.
While the Buckeye police continue to piece together the details of this confrontation, no arrests have been made as of yet. The teen, caught in the maelstrom of what must have been a harrowing encounter, has not been taken into custody, and the suspect remains under care, his actions and condition both in question.
