
A tragic hit-and-run incident in Orange County claimed the life of a Casselberry man last night. According to ClickOrlando, the victim, a 48-year-old man, was in a wheelchair when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing at the intersection of State Road 436 and State Road 50, near downtown Orlando.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred around 9 p.m.. The man was traversing the road, not within a marked crosswalk, when a southbound sedan, described by a witness as dark-colored, fatally struck him. Then the driver fled the scene without offering aid or waiting for the authorities. The sedan's make and model remain unknown. The man was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.
Troopers have also appealed to the public for assistance and encouraged witnesses or anyone with relevant information to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477), as reported by FOX 35 Orlando.
