In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott extended congratulations to Cedar Park for obtaining the full sweep of "Friendly Texas" certifications. According to a statement released by the Governor's office, Cedar Park has now been recognized for its appeal in film, music, digital media, and, with the latest addition, tourism, making it the third Texas community to achieve this status.

"These growing industries in our great state are essential to Texas’ booming economy. Texas partners with our communities and provides the tools and resources they need to attract new business investments, create good-paying jobs for Texans, draw visitors to every region of the state, and attract and retain a skilled workforce. I invite all Texas communities, large and small, to fully leverage the opportunities provided by our ‘Friendly Texas’ certified community programs,” Governor Abbott stated. This series of designations is part of a broader strategy by the state to collaborate with communities, increase business investments, and draw visitors from everywhere. Senator Pete Flores also praised Cedar Park for its commitment to being a welcoming city, emphasizing the local culture and the impact of tourism on economic growth and community connections, as per the Governor's office.

Cedar Park Mayor Jim Penniman-Morin expressed the significance of tourism to the city's cultural and economic vitality, and City Manager Brenda Eivens remarked on the honor of receiving the designation and its reflection on Cedar Park's efforts to support local businesses while enhancing resident life quality. “This designation reflects our ongoing efforts to create a welcoming environment for visitors while supporting local businesses and enhancing the quality of life for our residents. It’s a meaningful step forward in showcasing all that makes Cedar Park a vibrant and engaging destination,” said Eivens, as noted by the same press release.

The "Friendly Texas" Certified Community Programs are administered by a consortium, including the Texas Film Commission, the Texas Music Office, and Travel Texas within the Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office. These programs offer training and resources to communities, aiding in job creation and economic expansion. The mission of Travel Texas is to market the state as a travel destination, thus generating non-Texan visitation and contributing to local and state economies.
