
Early Sunday morning, a blue pickup truck was stopped by Ceres Police after it was spotted driving on the wrong side of the road near Hatch Road and Moffett Road. The incident, which took place shortly before 2:30 a.m. last Sunday, August 17, led to the arrest of the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
The traffic stop was initiated, by Sergeant Pinon who subsequently called upon Officer Garcia to conduct a DUI investigation. The Ceres Police Department, shared details of the event in a post on their Facebook page, indicating that the driver showed clear signs of alcohol impairment during the stop. "On August 17, 2025, shortly before 2:30 a.m., Sergeant Pinon initiated a traffic stop near Hatch Road and Moffett Road after observing a blue pickup driving on the wrong side of the road," their statement read.
The social media post by the department also included a reminder to the public about the dangers of driving after consuming alcohol. They stressed the importance of arranging for a sober driver or utilizing ride-sharing services like Lyft or Uber, to avoid putting oneself and others at risk on the road. The emphasis on planning ahead was clear, the Ceres Police Department said, "it’s simply not worth the risk."
