Travelers in Charlotte County will need to adjust their routes as the Rotonda Circle bridge over Long Meadow Creek North is set for a temporary shutdown. Starting Friday, the bridge, stretching between Marker Road and Long Meadow Lane, is scheduled to close for some much-needed rehabilitation work, an undertaking spearheaded by Thomas Marine Construction.
The work is poised to last until October 6, prompting local drivers to seek alternative paths during the span of the project and make note of posted detour signs, the Public Works Department has issued directives to accommodate the expected displacement of traffic ensuring minimal disruption, however it's wise to allocate a little extra time for commutes passing through this area.
A notice on the Charlotte County website advises road users to exercise increased caution, particularly when navigating the vicinity of the construction zone, where attentiveness can prevent mishaps.
While the inconvenience may temporarily irk the daily traveler, such closures, while a pain are essential to the longevity and safety of our infrastructure; and maintaining it is something that simply, at times, requires the temporary reconfiguration of our daily transit as crews undertake the significant task of bridge rehabilitation to ensure it's fit for future travel needs.
