
A Charlotte man, Reginald Maraeus Moses, 21, was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison followed by two years of supervised release for stealing firearms from a licensed dealer.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of North Carolina, Moses and an accomplice crashed a stolen vehicle into Carolina Sporting Arms Company on February 20, 2024, and stole 18 handguns and two long guns. Moses pleaded guilty to firearm theft from a licensed dealer and aiding and abetting.
U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson, along with officials from the ATF and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, announced the sentencing. The case was part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ initiative addressing illegal firearms and violent crime. The federal prosecution was carried out by the Charlotte U.S. Attorney's Office.
