In a coordinated effort to apprehend individuals charged with crimes against the most vulnerable, the U.S. Marshals Middle Tennessee Fugitive Task Force successfully arrested a man wanted for multiple sex-related crimes against children, as the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office has detailed in a recent social media post.
The arrest of Marc Anthony Carpenter, 39, was carried out in the small town of Hohenwald, Tennessee, where U.S. Marshals located him following an investigation that was initiated after he fled the Metro Nashville area, he faces serious charges which include three counts of rape of a child, aggravated sexual battery against a victim under 13, and attempted aggravated sexual battery involving a minor.
Last Saturday morning, members of the task force, acting on the warrant issued by the Criminal Court of Davidson County on July 2, moved in on Carpenter's location and, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Facebook post, apprehended him without incident before he was subsequently booked into the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office jail.
This arrest is part of an ongoing mission by the U.S. Marshals Service to safeguard children from harm and bring alleged perpetrators to justice, the task force arrangement encompasses a range of law enforcement agencies including Deputy U.S. Marshals, and the collaborative efforts of sheriff's deputies from Putnam, Rutherford, and Sumner County, Metro Nashville Police Officers, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Department of Correction Special Agents, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, who all played a role in this particular operation to address sex-related crimes involving vulnerable victims.
The commitment of the U.S. Marshals Service to community safety is underscored by such operations, which are designed to remove individuals accused of heinous acts from the streets, as the statement from their office succinctly puts it: "The U.S. Marshals Service is committed to protecting the most vulnerable in our communities by apprehending dangerous fugitives" as stated in the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Facebook post.
