In a recent enforcement push by the California Highway Patrol's Solano Area officers, 16 illegal firearms were seized throughout July. The crackdown culminated yesterday when a white Chrysler 300 was pulled over for speeding. The stop, which occurred on I-80 eastbound at Red Top Road around 3:38 AM, led to the discovery of two illegal firearms. According to a social media post by CHP Solano, open containers of alcohol in the vehicle prompted a search that brought this contraband to light.
The driver and the passenger found themselves handcuffed and booked into the Solano County Jail following the search. This incident marks just the latest in a series of proactive efforts by Solano officers to remove potential threats from the streets. Throughout July, a variety of firearms, including handguns, assault-style weapons, and ghost guns, were confiscated.
"In the month of July alone, Solano Area officers removed 16 illegal firearms from our roadways, including handguns, assault-style weapons, and ghost guns," read a statement from CHP Solano.
