The skies of Cincinnati are set to come alive with the Western & Southern WEBN Fireworks, an explosive spectacle that bids adieu to the summer season. As LOCAL12 reports, John Barrett, President and CEO of Western & Southern, highlighted the significance of this year's display and the joy it brings to locals year after year.
With a history now spanning 49 years, the fireworks mark not only a tradition but a premier attraction of the city's Riverfest celebrations, WLWT notes. Expectations for Sunday's festivities are high, with the possibility of 80-degree weather offering a final glimpse of summer warmth, although there's a chance for an uninvited guest, rain, arriving late Sunday or Monday.
The day-long Riverfest, commencing at 3 p.m. this Sunday at Sawyer Point Park and Yeatman's Cove, will feature live music and a festival atmosphere. Tarp placement for those eager to stake out prime spots begins at the same time. Visitors are instructed to use painter's tape, gaffer tape, or masking tape for securing their turf, while duct tape, rocks, bricks, or sand are off-limits, as per the city's guidelines detailed on Cincinnati.com.
Adding to the merriment, the 31st Annual Rubber Duck Regatta will take place on the same day, with proceeds supporting local meals programs. "Each duck purchased will help provide 15 meals to the community," WLWT shares. Those who partake in the regatta also earn a chance at winning a car or a cash prize of $1 million, making philanthropy exciting and potentially even lucrative. The grand firework display itself is scheduled to ignite the Ohio River shoreline at 9 p.m. and will last for approximately 30 minutes, showcasing a choreographed exhibition of light and sound that has become a signature end-of-summer bash.
For locals and out-of-towners alike, the Western & Southern WEBN Fireworks present an opportunity to create lasting memories – whether perched by the river's edge or cozy at home tuning in to the show's broadcast on Local 12, as "WKRC-TV" describes. With an array of activities, food, entertainment, and the main pyrotechnic event, Cincinnati's end-of-summer celebration stands ready to deliver a vibrant farewell to the season. Remember, though, any setups prior to the 3 p.m. kickoff will not only be removed but also destroyed, so timing your arrival is crucial for a good spot along the bustling riverfront.
