Visitors to downtown Clarksville now have a little more time to enjoy the historic district without fretting over parking meters. In a move to promote local commerce, the City of Clarksville has kicked off a two-hour free parking initiative accessible via the Parkmobile app. This program, which began on August 1, is valid once a day, Monday through Friday, bringing an end to free metered parking on Mondays.
Those hoping to snag a cost-free spot can download the Parkmobile app or opt for scanning a QR code on downtown signage. A statement by the City of Clarksville detailed the simplicity of use, stating that visitors "will need to download and install Parkmobile on their mobile device, scan one of the QR codes located on signage throughout downtown, or use text-to-pay in order to take advantage of the two-hour free parking program." Despite the initiative's benefits, it's important to note that it does not extend to coin-operated meters or parking garages.
With Parkmobile, the much-dreaded task of parking in the city takes on a new level of convenience. As the leading provider of smart parking and mobility solutions in North America, Parkmobile allows for easy payment from a mobile device, supporting both Visa and Mastercard. However, Clarksville’s innovative parking solution does come with a catch - to avoid a parking violation, motorists must set up notifications and ensure their license plate is active within the app. An expired session cannot be renewed immediately, "since it can only be used once every 12 hours," reminds the City of Clarksville's announcement.
