
Yesterday, Santa Rosa Police responded to a call regarding a disturbance on the 1700 block of Yulupa Avenue, where a reported incident involved a subject with a gun. The suspect, later identified as Matthew Wilsey, a 35-year-old resident of Clearlake, was located by police after they were provided with a suspect description from the reporting party through dispatchers.
According to a social media post from the Santa Rosa Police, officers arrived on the scene around 5:20 AM, where they witnessed Wilsey, who appeared to fit the provided description and had a bag as described by the uninvolved party. The road was temporarily closed by authorities as they worked to ensure a safe surrender. After multiple commands from the officers, Wilsey surrendered without escalating the incident.
No injuries were reported from the confrontation. In searching the area where officers made contact with Wilsey, a loaded .25 caliber firearm was discovered. Further investigation found Wilsey to have cocaine. These findings resulted in Wilsey's arrest and transportation to the Main Adult Detention Facility, where he was booked on multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of narcotics, exhibiting a firearm, and unlawfully possessing a loaded firearm in public.
Wilsey now faces several charges, including 11370.1 HS-Possession of a controlled substance while armed, 11350 HS-Possession of narcotics, 417(a)(2) PC-Exhibit a firearm, 25850(c)(6) PC-Unlawfully possess a firearm, and 25850(a) PC-Loaded firearm in public.
