A fire broke out in an occupied apartment above a restaurant at E.65/Fleet in Battalion 2 yesterday, as reported by the Cleveland Fire's social media account. The distress call came in at 11:15 am, and the fire, which started in a bedroom, led to four residents being safely evacuated and currently displaced. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in the incident.
While the fire itself did not spread to the restaurant below, the efforts to quell the flames resulted in extensive water damage to the establishment. Running out of the building, four residents found safety as the fire crews worked to control the bedroom blaze.
The financial toll of the damage is estimated at a considerable $300,000 loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to a post from the Cleveland Fire Department.
