The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a forecast that sees high pressure rolling into the eastern Great Lakes region from the north today, before being followed by a warmer, wetter spell as the week progresses. According to the National Weather Service forecast discussion, this high pressure is set to bring a period of cooler temperatures and dry conditions with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and comparatively low humidity levels.

As we slide into Tuesday, however, a low-pressure system will start to move in, lifting a warm front across the area. This transition is expected to result in scattered rainfall and elevated temperatures into the mid to upper 80s. Amid these fluctuations, the mercury will have us all longing to shed our cooler sentiment and adopt a lighter wear, an emblem of the season's change. Dew points will be rising, too, making it a noticeably stickier day.

Wednesday will see the continuation of scattered showers and thunderstorms, reminiscent of summers past, where the warm air could almost suddenly give way to a storm's cleansing rage. But this instability will be temporary, as another area of high pressure is due to build overhead on Thursday, calming the skies and drying the grounds once more.

Looking ahead, the NWS points out that high pressure will stick around through Friday, but may be challenged by an upper-level trough from Canada taking aim at the Great Lakes over the weekend. This could eventually lead to a return of showers and thunderstorms as we look to the start of next week. High temperatures will define to generally stay in the mid to upper 80s till a cold front comes through, then a welcome dip into the mid to upper 70s will follow.

In terms of aviation and marine activities, VFR conditions are expected for pilots through the TAF (Terminal Aerodrome Forecast) period with mostly sunny and clear skies on the roster for today and tonight. Mariners, on the other hand, should currently heed the small craft advisory and beach hazards statements due to an ongoing east to northeast wind flow across Lake Erie, creating wave heights up to 5 feet in areas.
