Firefighters from the Cleveland Fire Department engaged in a strenuous battle against a blaze that engulfed a large, vacant multi-unit house on E.123/Chesterfield in Battalion 6. According to a social media post by Cleveland Fire, the incident occurred yesterday afternoon, with first responder teams arriving to find the structure well involved in the fire.
The intensity of the flames led to a roof collapse that exacerbated the difficulty of the situation. Despite the challenging conditions, which included not only the structural dangers but also the oppressive, humid heat, fire crews managed to bring the fire under control after more than an hour of effort. The financial toll of the damage is estimated at $200,000. Fortunately, there were no physical injuries reported, yet the cause of the fire is still being probed.
No adjacent buildings were affected by the fire, allowing the containment efforts to be focused solely on the blazing structure. Firefighters on scene executed a defensive operation to extinguish the fire and prevent potential spread, utilizing various apparatus and techniques in their arsenal.
