Two suspects are in custody following a high-speed chase that ended with a collision and a foot chase in Columbus. According to a social media post from the Columbus Division of Police, officers initiated a traffic stop on August 7 after spotting a stolen vehicle speeding past them at around 12:17 a.m.
The vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Antonio Jackson and accompanied by 20-year-old Ozieion Brime, lost control at the intersection of Weber Rd. and Ontario St., subsequently the two attempted to escape on foot. Police quickly apprehended Jackson and Brime. During their investigation, officers recovered a rifle from the stolen car and found a stolen handgun in the vicinity of one of the suspects.
Both Jackson and Brime now face robbery charges for their involvement in the incident. The Columbus Division of Police has not released additional details about the robbery that led to the felony charges against the pair.
Weapons possession during the commission of a crime significantly escalates the severity of charges. The recovery of firearms in this instance underscores the ongoing concerns about gun violence and crime within the city.
