The Columbus Division of Police has issued an appeal to the public for help in a grave matter, taking to social media to engage with the community. According to a post shared by the Columbus Division of Police, detectives are on the hunt for a person of interest related to a felonious assault that unfolded on the streets of Columbus just the day before.
In the heat of the early afternoon, around 1:42 p.m., an alarming incident shook the 1200 block of W. Broad St. Officers who were called to the scene discovered an adult victim, rendered unresponsive from what was found to be a gunshot wound. The urgency of the situation was made clear when the injured party had to be quickly transported to an area hospital. The severity of the wounds was such that the Columbus Police Homicide Unit has taken up the reins to conduct this earnest investigation. They are now looking to identifiably track down an individual reportedly seen riding a bicycle nearby at the critical time of the shooting.
With little to go on, the authorities are reaching out, asking anyone with potential knowledge of the identity of this bicyclist to come forward. The Columbus Police have circulated an image of the person in question in hopes that eyes within the community may recognize and help. "Anyone with information as to the identity of this individual is asked to call Columbus Police Detective Jude at 614-645-4503 or the Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730," the Columbus Division of Police statement reads. For those wishing to remain unidentified, they offer the avenue of Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477), where anonymous tips can be submitted.
