A somber mood hangs over Park Heights in Northwest Baltimore, where a 5-year-old girl and five adults became the casualties of a mass shooting incident last night. According to WBALTV, police responded to the 5100 block of Queensberry Avenue after receiving calls at approximately 8:46 p.m.
Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley commented that a block party appeared to be unfolding before the chaos erupted. Amongst the victims was a young girl who suffered a gunshot wound to her hand. The six individuals shot in the incident ranged from 23 to 52 years old, including four men and two women. One 38-year-old man is in critical condition, while the others sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The neighborhood, which was described as having a block party vibe before the tragic events, is now grappling with the aftermath of violence that unfolded on what was supposed to be an evening of community gathering.
Further details provided by CBS News Baltimore indicate that the shooting may have been a targeted event. Commissioner Worley revealed during a media briefing that some victims were sitting on their porch and against a car, enjoying their food, when the suspect initiated gunfire. Police believe the shooter had a specific victim or victims in mind when he opened fire.

Homicide detectives are on the case, piecing together witness statements and clues to apprehend the perpetrator.
