The City of Cookeville's Department of Leisure Services is setting the stage once again for its much-anticipated Dogapalooza event, offering a day packed with furry fun at Cane Creek Dog Park. Scheduled for September 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., this family-friendly festival promises a lineup of dog-centric vendors, a collection of adoptable pets needing homes, and a host of activities tailored for our four-legged companions. According to an announcement on their website, attendees and their pooches can look forward to pup cups, giveaways, and even a bit of food and music to enliven the atmosphere.

An essential feature of the day is the annual Top Dog contest, which combines the zeal of public voting with the discernment of a judge's selection to crown the 2025 Top Dog. Interested community members can partake in the initial rounds by sharing their dog’s photo on the official Cookeville Leisure Services Facebook page. Following public engagement, only 10 dogs will proceed to the finals, set to battle it out under the critical eye of the judges. The vendor applications and sponsorships, still being accepted by the event, afford local businesses and community contributors a chance to shine alongside our canine companions.

"Dogapalooza has become a tradition our community looks forward to each year," said Recreation Superintendent Cara Sheets in a statement representing the community's affection for this annual gathering. Bringing dog lovers together, the event showcases the special bond shared with their pets and celebrates the spirit of Cookeville's canine community.

In a delightful twist, this year's Dogapalooza is also throwing the spotlight onto kids, allowing them to showcase their pups in two new contests focused on the Best Costume and Best Trick. Leisure Services Director Rick Woods emphasized the event's inclusive charm, stating, “The event not only provides fun and entertainment, but also gives opportunities to learn about local pet services, meet adoptable dogs and support the many organizations that make Cookeville a great place for pets and their owners,” recognising the broader impact such an event has on the community.

With Cane Creek Dog Park located at 201 C C Camp Road, admission to the event is free, welcoming well-behaved dogs on leashes to partake in the day's activities.
