A Coraopolis community is grappling with the aftermath of a deadly hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a local man late Sunday night. According to WPXI, a vehicle struck the man as he crossed 4th Avenue near a gas station, resulting in fatal injuries.
The driver involved in the incident did not stop at the scene, fleeing instead, and was later apprehended in Ambridge. With the aid of license plate readers, detectives located the suspect, who has since been placed in an ICE detainer, as the individual was found to be an undocumented immigrant. WTAE reported that authorities are still investigating the case.
As the investigation progresses, the Coraopolis Police Chief has not yet formally charged the driver, but confirms their detainment by ICE.
