Country music star Miranda Lambert, known for hits and humanitarian efforts alike, took a detour from her tour schedule to visit City Dogs Cleveland on Friday. Lambert, currently performing on Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem Tour, is also to hit the stage at Huntington Bank Field, but opted to spend some time at the local kennel amid her Cleveland stop.

As an advocate for animal welfare, Lambert aims to actively support shelter pet adoption. Through her MuttNation Foundation, a 501c(3) nonprofit, she's quick to shine a spotlight on local rescues when on the road. During her visit, Lambert got to warmly engage with a lineup of canines, including Eddie Money, Manon, Abba Gabba, Dolphin, Azalea, and Mulligan — all hoping to be somebody’s new best friend. "It was great to visit City Dogs – the entire staff was so friendly and helpful – and the dogs! It's impossible not to fall in love with all of them, they'll steal your heart with just one look," said Lambert, as told to City of Cleveland's official website. Lambert's visit coincides with the Clear the Shelters campaign, highlighted by adoption fees reduced to $21.

Clear the Shelters is much more than a local event it's a nationwide campaign initiated by NBC and Telemundo stations that has, since its inception in 2015, helped over a million pets find homes. Cleveland Kennel, grappling with a near-full capacity of about 160 dogs, is likely to benefit greatly from this initiative. The kennel recently celebrated its SUPERDOG event, inspired by Superman's Cleveland origins and a recent film release, an effort which saw 44 dogs being adopted.

Lambert's efforts to promote animal adoption are highly valued by the local organizations. "We really appreciate Miranda Lambert taking the time to come visit and help us promote our great dogs who are looking for homes," explained City Dogs representative Izzy Esler in a statement obtained by the City of Cleveland's official website. Lambert's advocacy is to surely lend a hand in uplifting the profile of these shelter dogs, each in need of a caring home.
