These professionals, dedicated to the Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management, are lauded for their relentless efforts in keeping the community safe amidst the throes of disasters and unforeseen dangers.
The day underscored the crucial role of emergency managers in public safety, orchestrating plans and leading activations during emergencies ranging from natural disasters to terror threats and public health crises. Notably adhering to a proactive stance, they produce educational materials, engage the community, and work hand-in-hand with first responders, always on the ready to respond when the bell tolls for a critical incident.
In a statement obtained by Cuyahoga County, Brandy Carney, Cuyahoga County Director of Public Safety and Justice Services, celebrated these professionals, saying, "Emergency Management professionals are the steadfast presence behind community safety, coordinating resources, directing response, and ensuring that recovery efforts are swift when disaster strikes." She further lauded their role in bolstering community resilience and nurturing trust in public safety infrastructures.
Throughout August, county officials prompted residents to enhance their emergency readiness, recommending actions such as enrolling in emergency notifications via Ready Notify, formulating family escape plans, and learning about the local hazards and emergency scenarios. This awareness drive aimed to empower citizens, providing them with the tools not just to survive but thrive in the aftermath of potential calamities.
