In a tragic incident at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mario Dewayne Green, a 53-year-old Detroit man, was charged with the fatal shooting of his ex-wife, Latricia Green Brown, also from Detroit. According to authorities, Green was charged with first-degree premeditated murder, among other charges, as reported by ClickOnDetroit. He was arrested last Saturday and consequently remanded to jail following his arraignment.
The hospital placed on lockdown following the shooting, underwent an immediate lockdown after the incident, which occurred in a public space in the basement that didn't require security-badge access, per a report by the Detroit Free Press. Alarmingly, the Detroit Free Press also detailed how Latricia Green had sought help from the court system, obtaining a personal protection order (PPO) against her ex-husband, Mario Green, after he had repeatedly interfered with her work, shown up without permission, and vandalized her property.
An alleged accomplice in the case, Anthony Lee-Lamont Barnett, 54, has been charged with accessory after the fact and lying to a police officer; both he and Green are awaiting their probable cause conference and preliminary examination set for early September, according to ClickOnDetroit.
On the topic of the PPO filed by Latricia Green against Mario Green, it was never actually served, which criminal defense attorney Lillian Dialo explained as meaning "it's just a piece of paper flapping in the wind," in an interview for CBS News Detroit.
