A routine trip turned precarious for one driver near Woodland last evening, as Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue crews scrambled to a harrowing scene following a crash that left the vehicle flipped onto its side and tangled with powerlines. In a social media post, the Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue recounted the details of the accident, which happened at around 8:38 pm.

Crews, including teams from LaCenter, Woodland, Ridgefield, and with mutual aid from Fire District 10's View Station, arrived to discover a car perilously leaning on its passenger side, ensnared by a telephone pole and ensnared by powerlines. The urgency of the extrication was heightened by the presence of live electricity, prompting emergency responders to wait for the PUD to cut the power. "PUD was called an extrication could not safely be done until PUD cut the power," stated the Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue in their post.

When power was secured, firefighters acted swiftly to free the victim. The door of fortune swung open wider still for the patient, attesting to the life-saving significance of wearing a seatbelt; the device spared them from more dire consequences. After the successful extrication, the patient was immediately transported to Peace Health Southwest for further evaluation and care.
