A Dutchess County special education teacher has been charged with sexual exploitation of a child, authorities announced. Daniel Alan Monarchi, 26, from Red Hook, New York, stands accused of engaging in sexually explicit conversations with minors and soliciting explicit videos. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Monarchi, who taught at a middle school in Dutchess County, used a Discord account under the username "mrteacherman" to contact and manipulate his victims.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton, and FBI Assistant Director in Charge, Christopher G. Raia, disclosed details of the case following Monarchi's arrest. "Sexual exploitation of children is too prevalent in our society," said Clayton in a statement. Raia added, “We entrust teachers with the responsibility of helping to care for our children and not harm them by engaging in sexual exploitation of minors.” The U.S. Attorney's Office gave specifics on the complaint, including disturbing communications between Monarchi and his alleged victims.
Daniel Monarchi has been charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, which the carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a mandatory minimum of 15 years. The complaint detailed incidents involving three victims, one of whom Monarchi contacted as early as September 2024. He misled his victims into believing they were interacting with a teacher who appeared to offer a sense of trust and safety, while instead violating that trust through his actions.
Investigators were able to corroborate Monarchi's identity through several pieces of evidence, including matching photos from his Discord account to those listed on the school's publicly accessible website. The FBI has urged anyone with additional information or potential contact with the Discord account “mrteacherman.” to reach out through its tip line or online form, as per the press release.
The FBI, along with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police, and the FBI Columbia, South Carolina Division, were applauded by Clayton for their roles in the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia M. Reville is handling the prosecution as part of the Office’s White Plains Division.
