According to the Office of the Texas Governor's press release, Abbott highlighted the significant impact of tourism on the state's economy, which generates nearly $200 billion annually and sustains about 1.3 million jobs.
"I congratulate the City of Eden and the Eden Economic Development Corporation on earning this designation," Abbott said, encouraging other communities within the Lone Star State to pursue the certification to enhance their local tourism and job prospects. The program is open to local governments or non-profit organizations that are the primary drivers for promoting tourism, offering the chance to strengthen tourism development relationships and become informed on vital opportunities provided by state government programs.
