The celebratory atmosphere at El Paso Community College's (EPCC) summer pinning ceremony was electric, as the Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) program honored its graduates. In a recent article published by EPCC, the commitment and determination of the nursing students were highlighted as they marked the completion of their studies.

EPCC's Vocational Nursing Program Coordinator, Melissa Robertson, BSN, RN, took a moment to commend both the students and faculty for their hard work. According to EPCC, Robertson stated, "Their knowledge, dedication, and unwavering belief in these students have made today possible." EPCC Dean of Nursing Dr. Hafid Guerrero also recognized the graduates' resilience, noting their ability to balance "everything, the long days, the complex coursework, and life outside of school."

The ceremony honored 25 LVN graduates and featured the presentation of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing to both a student and a faculty member. This tradition serves not only to acknowledge academic and professional excellence but also to inspire future contributions to the field of nursing. Sara Lucas was awarded the DAISY Award for Student Nurse, while Barbara Vasquez earned the DAISY Award for Nursing Faculty, signifying their outstanding contributions to the program.

In her address, Student Nurse Association (SNA) President Yarasel Valero spoke about the strength and unity of the class, which have truly defined their journey through the program. Valero was quoted by EPCC expressing gratitude towards their supporters: "Let's carry the spirit of compassion, energy, and resilience into every patient room and community we serve. The future of nursing is in our hands." Graduates were also given the chance to continue to enhance their qualifications through EPCC's Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Transition Program, a pathway for aspiring LVN graduates to advance their credentials.
