
Elk Grove residents experienced a jolt of tension early this morning as a robbery in progress at a local gas station led to arrests made by Elk Grove Police Department. According to details shared on the Elk Grove Police Department Facebook page, the incident occurred before 2 a.m. at the gas station located in the 8100 block of Sheldon Road.
The suspects, identified as 22-year-old Marce Blankenship and 21-year-old Gabriel Sanchez, were reportedly engaged in shoplifting when confronted by store employees. In the ensuing altercation, 23-year-old Tiara Sanbeck, who was driving a white Hummer linked to the suspects, threatened to run the employees over and warned they would come back bearing guns. The Elk Grove Police Department post narrates, "The suspects took off in the Hummer," escalating the scenario and prompting a swift response from the authorities. Despite the suspects' attempt to quickly leave the scene, the vigilance of the responding officers, who managed to quickly broadcast a suspect and vehicle description, played a pivotal role in apprehending them.
All three suspects were soon detained after officers located the Hummer driving in the vicinity. The Elk Grove Police Department's post detailed the charges, with Sanbeck being arrested for making criminal threats, as defined under Penal Code 422, and Blankenship and Sanchez booked for robbery under Penal Code 211. The Elk Grove Police Department message underscored a theme of collaboration, crediting the outcome to "teamwork between our officers and the community, through quick reporting and detailed descriptions."
