
An investigation is underway after a fire engulfed a home on Marseilles Avenue in Elyria, causing substantial destruction and impacting neighboring properties. Elyria Fire Department, spearheaded by Fire Chief Joe Pronesti, responded to a call at approximately 7 p.m. yesterday. The severity of the blaze led to significant damage to one residence and lesser damage to an adjacent home and vehicle, as told by Chief Pronesti to Cleveland19 News.
Witnesses at the scene reported the possibility of an explosion preceding the fire, however, officials have not confirmed this detail. Managed to escape without any reported injuries, neighbors, and residents, thanks to the quick evacuation efforts. According to information obtained by FOX8 News, Chief Pronesti's team discovered the heavy flames upon their arrival and tackled the emergency promptly.
The extent of the damage included not only the homes involved but also a car and an unrelated garage, according to Chief Pronesti's rundown of the aftermath. With crews working through the incident, the investigation into the cause and full scope of the destruction continued.
